My name is William Turnage, my friends either call me Will or my nick name “Sanchez” I got this nickname because my mother is Mexican and my friends just get a kick out of that fact. I am currently a 5th year student here at the University of Southern Mississippi. I came to Southern after attending Co/Lin for two years, the one thing I miss about Co/Lin is the marching band, and some days I regret not joining the band here. My major is Information Technology, and I really enjoy the subject. I hope to one day be a Network Administrator for a company. Until then I work in the basement of Mississippi Hall as a desk assistant for the Resident's Hall Association.
I have already taken one of my major's cap stone courses, in the class I had to right several reports, having to deal with IT research and/or project scenarios. It was a fun but stressful class that pushed my writing skills to the breaking point. The two years I was at Co/Lin I wrote for the school's newspaper and managed the paper's website. I wrote computer fix it/ tips articles which was good experience but I did not really enjoy all the deadlines and I'm glade I no longer have to worry with it anymore.
When I was in junior high I made a great friend named Rachelle. After jr high she moved away and this was a time before my community got the Internet so the only means that I could communicate with her was via mail. We wrote several letters to each other however after a while just being pen pals became impersonal and eventually the letters stopped. This is a great example of writing failing. We were once great friends, but as a child I needed more than letters. Today there is instant messaging and social websites that could prevent a friendship like the one I had grow cold.
This is a class I am forced to take, and as long as I'm stuck in here I might as well take something from this class. The one thing I hope to take from this class is how to write a great resume that will one day land me a great job. This is it for my first blog post.
